As the Executive Chairman of the Max Institute of Laparoscopic, Endoscopic & Bariatric Surgery, his center was the first in India to be accredited as a Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation, USA, for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and Hernia Surgery (2011–2014). With more than 98,300 surgeries to his credit, Dr. Chowbey has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records (1997) and the Limca Book of Records for 20 consecutive years (2000–2020) as the leading endoscopic surgeon.
